Genoa is gearing up for a year of celebration, a tribute to the legendary singer-songwriter Fabrizio De André on the 25th anniversary of his passing, and is a collaboration between RAI and the Ministry of Culture.
The inauguration of a special anniversary for Genoa
The 25th-anniversary celebration kicked off on January 11th with a real drumroll, marking the beginning of a musical celebration lasting for several months. The streets of Genoa, the cradle and homeland of the great Faber, starting from 10:00 am, were permeated with music: a playlist of De André’s hits, from “Crêuza de mä” to “Bocca di Rosa” creating a festive atmosphere that swept through the heart of the city. Mayor Marco Bucci emphasized the importance of remembering an icon that Genoa will never forget.

The Faber Experience in Genoa
The next appointment is scheduled for March 1st: the Teatro Centrale Stradanuova will come alive with the Faber Experience, a concert retracing the musical milestones of the singer-songwriter, with the indispensable help of the band “Faber is Back”. Mario Sampaolo, the creative mind behind the project, promises an authentic and thrilling sonic experience that aims to capture the lively spirit of De André’s live performances.
De André Anniversary: the prog band returns
The third stop at the Teatro Carlo Felice, on May 21st: 45 years after the historic tour, the De André Anniversary will be performed to celebrate the bond between the prog band and the artist. The group will infuse new poetry into the music through an original setlist, enriched with tracks from “La Buona Novella” and the presence of special guests, such as Flavio Premoli and Michele Ascolese.
The Summer Concert: an event you can’t miss
But the highlight of them all, the unmissable moment, will be the closing concert between June and July at the Stadio Ferraris, ready to be set ablaze with the enthusiasm of the entire nation. Artistic directed by Dori Ghezzi, this event will involve Assoconcerti, the De André Foundation, and the Casa dei Cantautori, bringing an unforgettable experience to the stage.
Genoa doesn’t forget
The celebration does not end with the conclusion of the events: a new cultural and tourist itinerary will soon come to life as well: “Genoa through De André”. Plaques with texts, writings, and interviews will be scattered in the most suggestive places, making the urban fabric a kaleidoscope of memories and poetry.
